While many of the moral ideas formed by early humans are full of merit, many parts of those early doctrines have become obstacles that hinder humanity’s progress. These ideas are so deeply ingrained in the human mind that truth-seekers often have to question their deepest beliefs before they can see what is obvious right in front of them.

When they lack experience with those who believe differently, humans begin to fear “the Other”—the unknown vastness of humanity that may not be like them. This fear has become so deeply ingrained in humans that it will take generations to overcome it. Thousands of years of mistrust have led to wars followed by reprisals; invasions followed by revenge; pillaging followed by the burning of invaders’ cities. Even today, too many humans refuse to see all humans as part of a single group struggling to survive after extinction. Humans cannot be forced into peace. Only time and persuasion can convince individuals of their true power when they work for the advancement of the collective rather than for their own personal enrichment.

Those who have acquired great wealth understand that money is simply the conversion of effort into value: a way to measure a person’s efforts and translate them into a number that can be used to purchase another person’s efforts. A stonemason converts the money from the sale of the labor involved in searching, cutting, and preparing stone—money that can then be used to buy the labor of a grocer, a doctor, or a teacher, even if they have no need of stones or stonework. Although this planet is rich enough for all its inhabitants to live in abundance, fear has driven the wealthiest to hoard even more—an overprotection of their descendants, fueled by their instinctive terror of being forced back into the poverty from which all humans originated.

In a world freed from the shackles of want, no one has any reason to accumulate wealth or the food, shelter, comfort, and security that wealth provides. They have no reason to fall prey to dictators or imperialists—or even to the poisons of a corrupt and elitist globalism—because they do not need to rely on political power or the labor of contract workers to survive. When everyone’s needs are met, there is no reason to wage war and no incentive to plunder their neighbors for the basic necessities they already possess and will never lose.

Only by being freed from want can the chains of humanity be broken. Even as transformation approaches, we must travel this journey within the confines of present-day society. Even those who refuse to heed our calls must continue to live with the promised protections, even if temporary compromises must be made for the safety of all. Only the preservation of order can enable humanity to undergo a peaceful transfer of power. A government’s first duty is to protect its borders and the people within them. Thus, many world leaders, while sharing our vision of a unified humanity, must balance our goals with the responsibility to protect their tribes from the current threats of war. Although globalization is our future, current national borders allow individual citizens to choose among diverse societies and governments and join the community that best represents them. In this time of chaos, protected borders allow citizens inside to live with a measure of security and the assurance that humanity will never again be lost in the desert of anarchy.
